presenting, 'Heritage". . . new from my Spring Collection

The anticipated arrival of Spring prompted this hand knitted ensemble I named; 'Heritage'

designed to fit 18" slim all vinyl dolls like my model, Lena, from Kidz 'n' Cats. I also created this to showcase my recent sweater dress pattern released,'Sakura'

'Heritage', inspired by St. Patrick's day makes use of a traditional 100% wool throughout, is a textured stitched sweater dress, featuring a deep ribbed welt and generous cowl neckline, along with an accent eyelet row added on each sleeve where a cream satin ribbon is threaded and tied in bows. Complete back-button closure added for easy dressing.

To complete the Irish feel I was going for with this ensemble, I added a newsboy cap, where I sewed down the peak to the brim for a flat-cap effect, happily my newsboy cap pattern (designed to fit the American Girl Dolls) worked well for my new model, as I only needed to change down a needle size and used a lighter worsted weight yarn.

You may also notice an additional fun accessory, her leg warmers, and before you ask, yes!!! I wrote up the pattern for these, calling them 'Pippi'. . .  read more

My new FREE knitting pattern Pippi, was inspired by today's fashion trends and the desire for a complete look to the above ensemble, takes it's namesake from the fun-loving character, Pippi Longstocking.

Designed to fit: American Girl Dolls and comparable 18" Gotz Dolls that share the same body type. ALSO fits 18" slim all vinyl dolls like my model Lena, from Kidz 'n' Cats

Knitting Pattern: A quick and easy project, these ribbed stitched leg warmers are the perfect compliment and accessory to my recently released sweater dress patterns, 'Matsuri' and 'Sakura' and great as a finishing touch with any sweater.

The pattern calls for a small amount of yarn, and are worked from the bottom up with fold down cuffs then seamed, using straight needles, my preferred knitting technique.

They can be worn long with turned down cuff, or left unfolded for covering the knees, and easily pushed down for a slouchy boot topper look.

presenting Matsuri & Sakura ~ new pattern releases

presenting  . . . Matsuri &  Sakura

A textured and ribbed stitch sweater dress pattern

My inspiration came from mother nature once again, this time in honor of the annual national cherry blossom festival and for this year in particular, which marks the 100th anniversary of the gift of trees . . . read more here

I love seeing little girls (and dolls) wearing over-sized sweaters, which prompted this design, where you get the best of both worlds, a sweater to keep the chill at bay, and a dress that is perfect for celebrating the arrival of spring.

'Matsuri:' takes it's namesake from the annual doll celebration in Japan, known as Hinamatsuri ~ a day to pray for young girl's growth and happiness. I worked the entire sweater dress in a soft petal pink with added pink ribbons featured on each sleeve. Matsuri is especially designed to fit 18" Gotz Dolls like my model, Elisabeth, and American Girl Dolls.

Pattern, Matsuri is now available Buy Now

'Sakura:' takes its namesake from the upcoming Cherry Blossom festival. The sakura, or cherry blossom is a delicate and transient beauty that has significant cultural and spiritual significance in Asia, particularly, Japan.

I picked the same soft petal pink to work Sakura, designed to fit slim 18" all vinyl dolls and especially designed to fit the Kidz 'n' Cats dolls like my model, Lena from the Heart & Soul series.

Pattern Features: A stylish cowl-neck sweater dress featuring textured stitch patterns and a deep ribbed welt, which have been written out with line-by-line instructions given. A ribbed stitch cowl neckline created from picked up stitches along with complete back buttoned closure for easy dressing. Set in bell-shaped sleeves feature an eyelet row worked for interest, and perfect for additional creativity with various ribbons.

Note: The added Flower Motif shown on the upper front of Matsuri, is worked using the Daisy Chain method, (instructions are not included in pattern).

The completed hand knitted ensemble shown here on my Gotz model Elisabeth, will also be available for sale this coming week, in an auction listed on eBay, via a store my husband and I have, under my label

A perfect addition to your doll’s early spring wardrobe; stylish yet warm to celebrate the arrival of spring.

This completed ensemble shown on my Kidz 'n' Cats model Lena, however has been sold and is on it's way to the new owner, but I am currently knitting another version of the design to showcase the pattern features, so check back in the next few days for details.
