Fall Collection from Summer Pickin's

One of my favorite summer pastimes is spending some time at our local thrift store for some cool summer finds, especially in the yarn section.
I was able to start early and found some great summer pickin's that have helped me get a super early start on outfits from my Fall Collection . . .

      I love working fair isle patterns, so I set about and worked a favorite stitch pattern from 'Ayanna', that I added to the one of my sweater dress patterns, the stitch pattern makes use of a faux fair isle stitch, creating the look of a complicated pattern with the ease of a simple slip stitch . . . it feels good getting an early start on my favorite and most inspiring season.

Deciding to put together a book of my patterns for 18" dolls seemed the next evolutionary step to make from my individual patterns that are currently available in pdf format.

As challenging as it was in getting this together, with much frustration trying to get the word document to accept my format, along with a few computer glitches, I am delighted beyond words with the results, so much so that I have already embarked on the second book in this series, which will feature knitting designs from my spring/summer collection.

In the meantime I wait with great excitement for next week when I will receive my proof copy, once thoroughly checked I then will issue the okay to put into production.

Christmas Collection

The Christmas Collection was born out of the desire to fashion holiday ensembles for a craft show I will be attending near the holidays. Inspired by the classic holiday movie, ‘White Christmas’ starring Bing Crosby, I created this festive set all featuring the use of faux fur trim, and all designed to coordinate with each other for complete ensembles.         ~ Debonair Designs

The Christmas Collection Patterns:

Noel ~ a fur trimmed hooded coat with collar option

Juliette ~ a fur trimmed cloak with capelet option

Cabana III ~ a chevron stitched two-piece skirt and matching top

Pattern Note: Worked flat, back and forth in rows

Construction: Written out with line-by-line instructions given, including faux fur placement, Coat worked bottom up in one piece then each section is worked individually, hood created from picked up stitches along with a collar option worked in the same manner, Cloak/Capelet worked top down with gradual shaping. Both the skirt and matching top worked from the bottom up.

Materials: Medium worsted/10ply yarn with bulky textured yarn used for the faux fur. Yarn Equivalent: 8ply/Double Knit (UK/Australia) and 12ply/Chunky

  The Sienna Collection was born out of the desire to have various patterns working together for a complete outfit. Kiah ~ a new beginning

Spring ~ fresh new beginnings, warm sunlight and lots of green . .  . well that's what I hope you are having . . .  for me, our new beginnings began on March 1st when my husband, kids and I moved ourselves across the Puget Sound from Seattle to a green oasis called Port Orchard, and we love it here.

I was also inspired with this new beginning and thoughts of spring in the air, prompting my latest knitting pattern release . . . .

Tundra, a winter inspired capelet ensemble

Fall may be out my windows in full glory, but my thoughts have quickly turned to thoughts of winter designs for my Gotz girls, which of course fit the popular American Girl dolls too!

The lush white coat of the arctic fox provides both warmth and camouflage in winter

Browsing through the wonderful, and resourceful world wide web provided me with my theme for this year's winter collection.
I chose to focus my designs on animals of the Arctic tundra; located at the top of the world around the North Pole, creating visions of fuzzy warm knits in this barren winter wonderland.

A textured stitch patterned slouchy hat that was inspired by today's fashion trends and named after my love of all things Celtic. Designed to fit American Girl Dolls and 18" Gotz Dolls like my model, Julia.

Knitting Note: Worked flat, my preferred knitting technique using my bamboo straights.
