As we transition to a new season, my thoughts quickly turn to my favorite season, Autumn/Fall and of course that means sweater weather, inspiring my newest design:

Steampunk Adventures

Steampunk ~ Romantic

Inspired by the trendy steampunk styles, I took the adventure myself and paired together two of my patterns along with extra modifications to create a timeless ensemble I thoroughly enjoyed, here is my Gotz Happy Kidz Katie model to show and tell

Construction:

Worked my newest petticoat design (Three Steps) in a cream with added ribbon along the eyelet and gathered at one side with button adornment, paired with a chevron stitched dress pattern (Katie) worked in dusty pink with cream accents using a mohair blend for the sleeve cuffs, Worked the corset following the chevron pattern of 'Katie', which is totally removable with back button closure and added metal embellishments. A pair of fingerless-mitts, neck choker and her favorite laced boots set the scene for Steampunk~Romantic Style

Summer's calling . . . 

Inspired by the fashion of project runway all stars for the challenge of modern resort wear, I set about to get my girls wardrobe ready for summer's calling . . . presenting a new pattern (soon to be released)

Dekora ~ A fashion forward halter-neck jumpsuit just in time for warmer weather activities or for kicking back to enjoy the ease of a summer day, featuring flattering lines and flared legs. Pair with a favorite cardigan for a stylish wardrobe addition that will work on through the seasons

Part Two ~ for this part I chose a favorite color combination which also served as the basis for a new pattern addition designed with the upcoming Spring season in mind and designed for the 18" American Girl Dolls and the comparable 18" Gotz Dolls like my models Elisabeth & Jessica from the 2003 Precious Day Collection

A love story . . . . .

Let me tell you a love story . . .

Three years ago Jaden and his family relocated to the beautiful Pacific Northwest region, however Jaden was not so keen on making new friends, being a little shy he was encouraged to mingle . . it wasn't long before that mingling led to discovering a true friend in the girl next door, Jess.
As the months flew by they became inseparable, but finally in January two years ago, a bashful Jaden revealed his true feelings to Jess with the help of his buddy, his dog Rembrandt, by surprising Jess with a Valentine's Day card, Jess was at first a little taken back as she had no idea he was her secret admirer, but she too secretly was very pleased

 

And their love grew, Jess fell for Jaden and loved him in the same way he loved her, today they finally declared their love for each other as they celebrated Valentine's Day early for their two year anniversary

 

 

and even Rembrandt met his love when Jess and her family adopted a puppy dog they called BonBon

Hi, hard to believe the epic journey of my vision for this Kalendar Kidz pattern book  publication is finally complete. Beginning with the wonderful and generous support of pledges via my Kickstarter campaign at the beginning of the year, seeing the end to my computer/hard-drive woes, thus allowing me to plot the files for the first volume that went live on Amazon June 2015, to seeing the completion of my vision with this special edition, volume 2 of Kalendar Kidz, just now released.

Special Edition of Kalendar Kidz volume two includes designs for the mini Kidz too and completes the calendar year with six more months of original hand knitted designs for 18" slim bodied all vinyl dolls such as the Kidz 'n' Cats dolls by Sonia Hartmann 

Opening with refreshing summer picks on through seeing the Kidz back to school with staple basic essentials along with the opportunity to explore colorful options as the palette changes and dips into fall featuring stylish textured stitched sweaters and cosy cables as the temperatures drop, ending with classic lines in the form of new winter coats just in time for the winter holidays. 

19 patterns including accessories depicting designs suitable for July through December, offering both classic and stylish knitwear and unique textured stitches with an introduction to cable work all formatted to suit both the beginner and seasoned knitter to enjoy a whole calendar year of knitwear designs that began with volume one depicting designs suitable for January through to June with the continuation of the year depicted in this volume.




 Over the years of working doll-sized designs has provided me the instant gratification I seen when exploring new stitch patterns, practicing and/or improving techniques. In my desire to showcase these designs i also welcome the opportunity to share in my second love of photography, as I strive to capture that childhood innocence with realistic poses all through the eyes of my dolls.

         I invite you to take a moment to turn the pages before diving into your first project to peer into the ‘lives’ of my Kidz ‘n’ Cats dolls through an entire calendar year depicted in volumes one and two. ~ Deb

Autumn offerings

Autumn/Fall, the most inspirational time of the year for endless color combinations I am eager to explore working from my popular design from last year's season, 'Ayanna', a faux fair isle sweater dress, read  previous post here  for pattern details.

 However before I embark on these, my attention has been taken away to focus on my Kidz n' Cats twins, Leroy & Lena, this being their first fall season together, pictured here embarking on their first school trip .

Summer time

Summer time may have been beckoning me outdoors with warmer than normal temperatures, clear blue skies and sun soaked days, but not before casting on a little something for my Gotz girls . . . .

Lagoon offers an opportunity to work new stitch techniques & textured stitch-work all packaged into a stylish tunic sweater that is suitable for early evening summer breezes after a sun soaked day

  

  

 also fits 18” Madam Alexander dolls like my model Abbie

Construction: Worked flat; back and forth in rows.
Front and back each worked the same in one piece bottom up to neckline, with shoulder fastening closure for ease of dressing. Drop short length sleeves created from picked up stitches and worked top down, then seamed along with sides of sweater that features side vents

Spring forth with Anyah

Spring? . . . here in the Pacific Northwest I can happily say that spring has arrived, my daffodils are clear proof along with the heavy pollen count too. Needles to say, for many, the prolonged winter white and grey still looms large, so to add and spread spring joy I was inspired to create an American Girl version of 'Nuala', a sweater dress I had created for the 18” slim all vinyl girl dolls like the Kidz n’ Cats® dolls

 presenting . . .

Especially designed to fit American Girl Dolls & the comparable sized 18” Gotz Dolls

‘Anyah’, a textured stitched sweater dress, that makes use of an easy to work slipped stitch textured pattern throughout, along with classic ribbing and featuring front pockets with two options for working the pocket fronts; a versatile addition for the spring transition.

Pattern Features: Formatted with written out line-by-line instructions given throughout. An easy to achieve slipped stitch textured pattern is worked throughout, along with a deep ribbed welt that is also worked for the cuffs and crew neckline. Incorporated pocket liners are worked at the same time as the main body with pocket fronts worked at completion from held stitches with two options.

Construction: Worked flat: back and forth in rows. 

Worked from the bottom up in one piece to armholes, including back button bands (added for easy dressing), then each section is worked individually to neckline, created from picked up and held stitches. Pocket lining worked at the same time as main body using the knitting on cast-on method, pocket fronts added at completion from held stitches. Set in long sleeves worked from cuff edge to sleeve cap, seamed and sewn into place.
