June Knit-a-long

Coming this June two of my designs, Kimana, a bolero jacket and Belle, a complimentary cloche style hat are to be featured in a month long knit-a-long (kal) in a group dedicated to knitters of American Girl Dolls in the knitters and crocheters 2 million members strong forum Ravelry.

To showcase these patterns, I created  a summer theme, with thoughts of long summer days in the forefront of my mind and visions of the great outdoors, and chose the adventures of an African safari ~

Debonair's Savanna

Also to would like to present my latest pattern release also from my summer collection, Cabana, a stylish tunic top easily worn paired with shorts or layered under your doll's favorite jacket and discovered that my bolero jacket Kimana, works as the perfect compliments as pictured below on my models Jess and Tess.

Summer Knits

presenting, 'Savanna'
new from 2011 my summer collection.

This new summer inspired design was created from my spring pattern release, Adrift only this time I omitted the sleeves and worked garter stitch on the last 2 stitches creating a flat edge around the armhole.
Variation to neckline: For the neckline, I continued working the single ribbing for a total of seven rows, thus allowing it to fold back onto itself, creating a flattering collar.

Embellishment: For a unique finishing touch I added strung beads along the garter stitch ridge row, and fastened securely.

The safari style hat completes the look, however this hat pattern is not available since it has been worked from a base pattern, where I improvised and added a brim.

Designed to fit: I worked this design to fit 18in Madam Alexander Dolls like my model pictured, this outfit also fits the American Girl Dolls and 18in Gotz Dolls.

Model Info: 'Hayley', is from Madam Alexander Girlz Collection, she stands 18 inches tall, slightly slimmer than the American Girl Dolls and 18in Gotz Dolls.

Thanks for looking, Deb

Presenting, 'Adrift' . . a nautical inspired cardigan pattern

Adrift
a nautical cardigan pattern for dolls

by Debonair Designs

I have just released my new pattern, 'Adrift'.
This nautical inspired cardigan pattern features a chevron lace stitch that reminds me of the gently ripples of a flowing tide and waves cresting upon a sandy shoreline. The stitch in turn creates a flattering scalloped edge.

Nautical fashion is still considered today as timeless symbols of escape to distant shores and 'Adrift' is no exception, a perfect lightweight cardigan to go over your doll's favorite tee shirt, yet warm enough for those spring/summer sea breezes.

Designer's Note: Worked flat ~ my preferred knitting technique using my bamboo straights.

Construction: Worked from the bottom up in one piece to armholes, including button bands, then each section is worked individually.

Experience Level: Advance beginner - Intermediate

'Adrift'
a nautical cardigan pattern is available for sale
